Nira Tamayo

Clinical Intern | Marriage and Family Therapy

Background

I am currently completing my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Touro University, where I am acquiring the skills necessary to support individuals on their healing journeys. My passion is focused on helping women who have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse. I am deeply committed to empowering women to heal from trauma and build fulfilling, meaningful lives.

My journey into the therapeutic field began in 2006 with my volunteer work in an intensive trauma workshop. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, loss, and the impacts of trauma. These experiences have reinforced my belief that even in the darkest moments, strength, beauty, and acceptance can be found within our stories.

As a bilingual therapist, I offer services in both Spanish and Arabic (not fluent), which enables me to connect with a diverse range of individuals and provide culturally competent support. I approach therapy with compassion and respect, underpinned by an unwavering belief in the resilience of the human spirit.

My faith guides me in the conviction that God can use our most painful experiences to facilitate healing and transformation. I am honored to walk alongside those who are ready to begin or continue their journey toward wholeness and hope.
